Izjave posle VN Italije

Vil Stivens :

That was a good race. The car was well-balanced, we had good pace and for the first few laps I could enjoy some proper racing with the cars coming from behind us. Inevitably, things settled down a bit after that but we were able to push hard and maintain the momentum. I was very comfortable this weekend and feel like things are going my way again, so now I’m really looking forward to the long-hauls.

Roberto Merhi :

It’s been a more difficult weekend for me, so I have to be pleased with what is a good result overall for the team. The last few races have been much better for me, but not everything goes your way all of the time, so I’ll take away the positives and keep pushing for the flyaway rounds, starting with Singapore, which I’m really looking forward to.

Džon Bat :

All in all, another strong weekend for our team here in Monza. Our reliability continues to be very encouraging, our pace is improving relative to the cars immediately ahead and both drivers are pushing each other hard. This combination of factors is really allowing us to punch a little above our weight at present and it was good to see Will in particular enjoying a good fight with the cars around him in the opening laps today. A positive note on which to end the European phase of races. Finally, our congratulations to our powertrain partner Scuderia Ferrari on achieving a podium result at their home race.

Manor Formula 1 team in Mercedes engine deal talks for 2016

1441706619.jpg

Mercedes is in discussions with Manor regarding an engine supply for the 2016 Formula 1 season.

Manor is using one-year-old Ferrari power units this term while Mercedes has customer deals with Williams, Force India and Lotus alongside its own team.

If Renault completes its talks to take over Lotus, Mercedes could have capacity to supply an alternative team - and has now decided against a potential deal with Red Bull.

Mercedes' head of motorsport Toto Wolff confirmed Manor was a possibility.

"On the engine, we had some discussions and they're interested in exploring the competitive environment," he told AUTOSPORT.

"They have a Ferrari engine today but it's a young team and a new team and they need to meet with all engine suppliers and make the best deal for yourself.

"This is why we've been talking to them."

A Manor source confirmed talks have taken place between the two parties.

Mercedes needed to get dispensation from the FIA for four teams to have its engine this year as the regulations state a single manufacturer can only supply a maximum of three teams.

"It's a capacity question [with Manor] and at the bottom we don't know what is happening with Lotus and Renault and this is why you have to keep all options open," added Wolff.

WOLFF KEEN ON WEHRLEIN PROMOTION

Wolff said there have been no talks with Manor regarding putting one of Mercedes' drivers in the car, but he remains keen to get the team's reserve Pascal Wehrlein into an F1 seat.

The German currently races in the DTM, and had been linked to a Force India F1 race seat after testing for the team.

"We haven't talked to Manor about drivers yet because I think it's too early," said Wolff.

"I'm a keen supporter of Pascal because he's doing a great job in the DTM and he was an outstanding kid in F3 as well.

"So I definitely see him having the potential to go into F1.

"But at the moment my agenda is purely concentrated on the racing team and locking in the championship.

"The next step is going to hopefully have Pascal in the right seat.

"Force India was an opportunity and that door closed.

"Now it's about looking at the market overall and the other teams, but we are not under pressure.

"We need to find the right seat for him."

Hmm,Paskal Vehrlejn u Manoru s Mercedesovom PJ.Vrlo logično,ako mene pitate ovo sve je već rešeno.Merhi i Stivens izvlače slamke :)

Will Stevens believes the Singapore Grand Prix will offer Manor its best chance of a shock result this season.

Manor has been comfortably off the pace as it runs a modified version of last year's car as well as the 2014 Ferrari power unit, while the demise of Caterham means it has been racing alone at the back of the field. However, Manor has been able to record seven two-car finishes from the ten races both have started this season.

With the Singapore street circuit a big test of both a driver's concentration and a car's reliability, when asked by F1i if Manor's consistency provides it with its best chance of securing a surprise result, Stevens replied: "Yeah, exactly.

"I believe where we've got the car to at the moment is actually at a good place. OK we're not going to go and be quicker than the McLarens, I know that for sure, but I'd like to think if qualifying happens to end like Monza then we can actually have a race with some people.

"You never know until you get there and get on track. Obviously I've never been there before so hopefully I get to grips with the track quickly and have a good weekend."

And Stevens says the lower emphasis on engine performance is one of the reasons for his optimism.

"Everyone knows the situation we're in with last year's car and engine, so overall I think Singapore we can be quite optimistic for. Obviously engine is not so important there and the actual car balance we've got is pretty good now. We'll see, I'm looking forward to it. Everyone tells me it's a mega race and I always enjoy the night races so I'm really looking forward to it."

Manor Formula One hires Rothschild after bid approaches

Manor Formula One team has hired the investment bank Rothschild to field bids from possible new investors.

The team has received unsolicited bids for minority stakes as it continues to struggle financially and on the grid.

The Sheffield-based team has only scored two points since joining F1 in 2010 and lies last in the standings after last week’s Italian Grand Prix.

Rothschild has overseen talks about potential new investment before.

The bank was appointed last year after the team’s previous owner, Russian businessman Andrei Cheglakov, had failed to find new investment. However, the brakes were put on the arrangement with Rothschild when the team crashed into administration in October last year with debts of £63.6m.

Rothschild has now been re-hired following Manor’s rescue by Stephen Fitzpatrick, boss of energy firm Ovo, earlier this year, according to sources close to the company.

Manor’s accounts for the year ending 31 December 2014 reveal that the team is now facing a cash shortfall and is “wholly reliant” on funding from Mr Fitzpatrick.

He is reportedly investing £30m, with another £35.4m ($52.2m) coming in instalments from prize money for finishing ninth in the standings in 2014.

It gives Manor the smallest budget in F1 and, according to its accounts, Mr Fitzpatrick has provided a letter committing to financial support to enable it to continue as a going concern for at least 12 months.

“The company is therefore wholly reliant on the financial support of Stephen Fitzpatrick, the ultimate controlling party, to fund any cash shortfall between income and expenditure,” says Manor Grand Prix director Vincent Casey.

Manor’s accounts for the year ending 31 December 2014 reveal that its net losses increased more than ten-fold last year to £52.9m. It was driven by reduced sponsorship and F1’s switch from 2.4-litre V8 engines to costly, but more environmentally-friendly, 1.6-litre V6 turbos.

Revenue reversed £34.6m to £26.2m while costs increased 22.6 per cent to £83.7m. It led to a net cash outflow of £12m and the outlook is still bleak.

Manor team boss John Booth says that the return Suzuka a year after Jules Bianchi’s accident will be an emotional experience for everyone in the team – including drivers Will Stevens and Alexander Rossi, who were both present in 2014.

Booth has made it clear thar he wants the F1 paddock and media to respect the team’s privacy.

“There is no escaping the fact that this will be an extremely emotional week for us,” he said in a team race preview. “Many of the team members who were with us in 2014 are back with us this year, including our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari and of course Will and Alexander, both of whom were in Suzuka last year in their roles as Reserve Drivers. It will also be a different emotional experience again from Monaco, a place full of so many special memories for our team, and Hungary, where we all had to say a very difficult goodbye to a greatly-loved friend and colleague.

“We think of Jules every single day; he will forever be a huge part of our team. Without doubt, our memories are overwhelmingly happy ones, celebrating his incredible achievements in our race cars and the enjoyable times we shared along the way. Jules’ funeral reminded us that he was a special gift to so many people, not least of all the magnificent Bianchi family, who are always in our thoughts and prayers.

“We were Jules’ team, and with that in mind I would ask everyone to understand and respect that, this weekend, we wish to deal with the experience of returning to Suzuka in a very private way. Our commitments will reflect this. It is my job to provide the team with the right environment in which to be able to do their job in spite of very difficult circumstances. This will be my primary focus. Jules has not only been constantly in our thoughts since that terrible day in 2014, but his name has also been on our car at every single race. That tribute, our incredibly fond memories of Jules and the camaraderie we have within our team are all we need to race on in his honour in Suzuka this weekend.”
