More shuffling of engineers?

...

The next name on the list would be James Allison at Lotus F1 Team. He started his career at Enstone back in 1991 and became chief aerodynamicist there in 1997. He was lured away to Ferrari on a five year deal between 2000 and 2004 but returned to the team in 2005 and has been there ever since. He has stuck with the team through the difficult times, despite offers from other teams because he believes in honouring contracts. He has already experienced Ferrari and so the logical destination for him would be McLaren, although he might not find the corporate style there entirely to his taste. If, however, his contract is coming to an end, then he could be a free agent and be open to offers. There are whispers that he could be may be on his way to McLaren to replace Lowe, which would definitely be a step up the ladder, although he might argue that he would rather climb to the top with the Enstone team. The key question, therefore, is whether he is confident in the owners giving him what he needs to do the job properly. It should be pointed out that the rumours might also be designed to destabilise the team at a time when it is in negotiation for big sponsorships and when there are people out there who would like to acquire it from the current owners.

As with all things in F1 these things are difficult to fathom unless someone is willing to talk openly.

...

In F1, engineers are normally locked down to contracts which either tie them in to their employers for a set time, or prevent them going to work elsewhere for a few months. We all hear of people going off for a bit of 'gardening leave.'

But while taking 12 months off to attend the geraniums may be an attractive proposition for many people, if men like Lowe and Allison are taken out of the equation for that period now, then their input for the crucial 2014 rules will be completely lost.

These next few months are the very time when men like Adrian Newey, Pat Fry, Lowe and Allison really show their mettle; dig deep into regulations to find those grey areas that deliver competitive advantage.

From what team insiders are saying, neither Lowe nor Allison have yet been won over by what's been offered to them, and it could well be that both men ultimately decide to stay put and keep producing their brilliance where they are right now.

But you can be sure that their bosses are keeping a very close eye on exactly what is happening after the shake-up at Mercedes. Because once that first move is made, no one knows where the music is going to stop.

Lotus reports James Allison not leaving

Lotus' James Allison is staying put.

That is the claim of an insider at the Enstone based team, despite admitting that Mercedes' Niki Lauda came calling for the highly rated British technical director.

Last week, as the Paddy Lowe saga unfolded, we reported that Allison had been earmarked by McLaren as a possible replacement, in case Lowe jumped ship.

Actually, the Lotus insider confirmed that it had been Mercedes' Lauda on the phone.

"Lauda calls Allison every day," the source is quoted by Speed Week, "but James' contract is bullet-proof."

Moreover, "He also doesn't want to leave," the Lotus insider added.

Stability at Enstone

James Allison does not say much in public, preferring to let results speak for themselves, but he is very passionate about what he does and has brushed off countless offers to join other teams because he wants to see the Lotus F1 Team become successful again. This is hardly surprising given that Allison has been with the team for much of his 22-year career in the sport. He joined the team (then Benetton) after graduating from Cambridge in 1991. He was then lured away to join Robin Herd’s Larrousse UK Ltd for a couple of years before returning to the mother ship and moving up to become head of aerodynamics. He then followed his heart to Ferrari for a five-year contract, during some of the Italian team’s glory years and then went back to Enstone (by then known as Renault) and played a fairly important role in the team’s World Championships in 2005 and 2006, becoming technical director in 2009. He has stuck with the team through the tough times since then and is credited with having played a very significant part in the recent revival. Having been to Ferrari and being rather too much of an old school style racer to fit into the corporate ways down in Woking, Allison’s logical career path has been to stay where he is and lead the team to success, which is apparently what he wants to do. Much depends, of course, on money and thus his fate is not entirely in his own hands, but if Gerard Lopez and Eric Boullier can keep things on an even keel and supply him with a decent budget, he will produce the goods. The fact that he apparently intends to stay where he is suggest that he has sufficient faith in the ownership and management that all is well. This can only be a good sign for the team – and for the sport. After a promising year in 2012 Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean will be back and hope to have an even better car than last year.

Ma to je prefarbani E20. Nemojte se mučiti da istražujete nešto na tom parčetu plastike.

Jako, jako , jako loša vest je da nema Honeywell natpisa na bolidu. Mada ova crvena daje neku nadu...
