Force India has been fined €5,000 for releasing Sergio Perez’s car from this pits without having correctly fitted one of its wheels.

However the team was spared a grid penalty because the stewards ruled it was not obvious his front-left wheel hadn’t been fitted properly.

Following an inspection of the car by the FIA’s technical delegate, the stewards agreed that although the wheel had been clamped to the car the wheel nut was cross-threaded, which only became apparent after Perez rejoined the track.

“The stewards determined that the car was released in an unsafe condition in breach of Article 28.13(b) [of the Sporting Regulations] as the wheel was not properly attached to the car when released,” they said in a statement.

“Unusually, the wheel clamped to the car and it was not immediately apparent that the wheel was not fully fitted. The stewards had the technical delegate inspect the car, and his conclusion agreed with the team’s that although the wheel clamped, the wheel nut was cross-threaded.”

The stewards acknowledged Perez handled the problem correctly. “The driver stopped the car in a safe manner as soon as the above became apparent to him. And while there was some confusion on the radio, the team gave appropriate instructions as soon as they realised the issue, which was not apparent until just before turn nine.”

“Consistent with previous decisions of a similar nature, the stewards decided that the grid place penalty mentioned in the above article would not be applied as all appropriate measures were taken, and in particular it was not obvious that the car was unsafe when it was released.

“Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of the team to take all measures to ensure that the wheel is fully fitted and accordingly, the stewards fine the team €5,000.”

Ferrari will change Kimi Raikkonen’s engine following his stoppage in the second practice session, the team has confirmed.

The team announced on social media “the full block – ICE, turbo and MGU-H – on Kimi’s car will be taken down for checks and replaced for tomorrow.”

As drivers may only use three separate power units over the course of the 21-race season, the change puts Raikkonen at risk of a penalty later in the year. With each power unit needing to cover seven races on average, Raikkonen has moved onto his second example after four. However the unit could return to service later in the season if Ferrari believes it can withstand another race distance.

Raikkonen is the third driver to use his second engine, turbocharger and MGU-H this year, joining Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) and Pierre Gasly (Honda). Brendon Hartley has also changed his turbocharger and MGU-H, and the two Renault drivers are also on their second MGU-Hs.

Hamilton expects more from Ferrari on Saturday:

I think it’s still very close. Not really quite sure where Ferrari’s pace was today, they’re probably sandbagging or something, they’ll bring it out tomorrow. The Red Bulls obviously very close to my pace. So I think again it’s going to be relatively close between the top three teams. I can’t really tell you which one’s quickest at the moment because again fuelling and maybe one didn’t get their lap or something like that. Tomorrow we’ll get a much better understanding.

Uvek je tu sledeca sezona.

 

Gume su promenjene samo za 3 trke, tako da to nikako ne sme biti razlog za otpisivanje sezone.

Promenili su im konstrukciju. Manje gume na gazecoj povrsini. Sto sada menja to kako se gume zagrevaju, trose... Zlo i naopako ako posle opet vracaju nazad. I ovo prvo je bilo dovoljno, najjace da posle steluju po potrebi...

Ovo je izmena za tri brze staze, Barselonu, Silverston i zaboravih koja je treca, verovatno Suzuka. Na ostalim ostaje ono sto su vozili od pocetka sezone.

Budalastina. Toliko razlicitih komponenti, pa jos na to hajde da neke od njih jos da stelujemo za odredjene staze...

Kako je lepo videti stazu sa sljunkom umesto asvalta u zoni izletanja. Raj za oci i dusu.

Jeste, jos kada izlete sa staze pa sljunak leti na sve strane kao konfete :D

Sad kad izlete boli, a to i jeste poenta trkanja, a ne da kao na igrci stisnes do daske pa ako pogresis, samo se izvrtis i nastavis dalje. Rikardo juce izgubi 50 minuta prvog treninga zbog greske, na vecini drugih staza bi samo nastavio dalje i odradio ceo trening. Jos neko je ostao zaglavljen u sljunku, a ovi koji nisu dobro su protresli kosti. Ako se nesto slicno desi u trci svaki vozac ce izgubiti od 5 pa navise sekundi za takvu gresku, a da je asvalt izgubio bi pola sekunde, 1 u vrh glave. To je bila nekad lepota trkanja, ko rizikuje moze da nadje desetinku ili dve u svakom krugu u tim krivinama, ali ako samo jednom pogresi gubi sve pa i jace, a danas nema penala za gresku pa ni oni koji su precizniji i hrabriji ne bivaju nagradjeni za to.
