Description
For a challenging and fulfilling internship in one of P&G's European Research Centres apply for our R&D European Intern Programme.
The internship programme is a successful way to hire future R&D employees in Europe or possibly Asia. It is a period of mutual trial - a chance for you to gain industrial experience, look at us as a potential future employer and for us to see your capabilities.
Our main internship normally runs for 10-12 weeks in the summer break but we also offer internships/placements for longer periods (up to 1 year) and at different times of the year. All our European Research Centres (3 in the UK, 3 in Germany, 1 in Belgium and 2 in Italy) participate. Next opportunities will be available as of February 2011.
Next to the European main program, we may have an occasional internship to offer in our technical center in Asia. Should you also be interested, please indicate this later on in your application.

Job Responsibilities
During the internship students will -
· be responsible for their own project(s) as part of a European project team that includes senior management,
· have an opportunity to put their technical skills to work on intellectually challenging problems,
· improve their team working and management skills through practical experience and interactive training courses,
· learn to work effectively with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds,
· experience the working environment in a leading international company, and
· gain guidance on their professional development
Job Requirements
We enrol students from the different scientific (natural / life / physical) and engineering (chemical / mechanical / electrical / design) disciplines into the various roles in R&D (for R&D roles and the type of candidates we look for please click here). In R&D we are not looking for IT students, if interested in an IT role please check IDS vacancies. It is preferable that students are in their penultimate year of a superior degree (PhD's also considered) and have a demonstrated history of academic excellence at all stages through school and university education.
In addition to good knowledge of English, we also look for skills such as technical curiosity, creativity, innovation, initiative, communication, leadership and the ability to work with others.
Some examples of past internship projects
· Product Research: Investigate the properties of skin and hair. Suggest potential mechanisms and develop solutions to reduce post shave irritation.
· Technology Development: Adsorption and desorption of perfumes into zeolite (study background: chemistry)
· Process Development: Development of a flexible hand making facility for a hygiene product (study background: chemical/mechanical engineering).
· Concept Engineering - Design and development of innovative new product device. (study background: Design engineering)
· Packaging & Device Development: Impact of bag design parameters on consumer acceptance (study background: chemical/mechanical engineering)
· Analytical: Chemical characterization of polymers and adhesives (study background: chemistry/analytical chemistry)
Upon selection, we will, of course, take into account your preferred location and period, but final decision may depend also on the business need.
