A very sad and disappointed Nadal. "It's an opportunity lost". Obv feels unlucky in Melbourne. Says he doesn't want to complain as he won a lot of things but ads "still who knows if I didn't get all those injuries".

Nadal does not know what he a. examinations in view. Looks very concerned and very upset.

"Somebody who is running the Tour should start to look into what is happening right now", Nadal. Says too many injuries and also the need to think about the lives of players after their careers.

Rafa felt he could go all the way here so there's a lot of sadness about what just happened. Worked so hard in December. And one more time here injury comes.

It's hard to see Nadal limp like that and suffer to get on and off the stage. How sad that...

 

Cilic said he made a conscious effort to get his intensity higher after losing the third set, to pump himself. Says on paper it's better to play Edmund than Nadal but he knows Kyle is very dangerous. He's overall very happy of his level of play. And "sad " for Rafa.

Nadal not sure yet specifically what his injury is. "This type of injury is difficult to know immediately." Says he's planning to have an MRI tomorrow.

We are people with a life beyond our careers. It is difficult for me to think how I am going to finish my career. People who run the tour do not care about how we are going to end our careers, if we are going to have a normal life, if we are able to do sport

Cak i da se Rafa nije povredio mislim da je Cilic imao dobre sanse da ga pobedi, jer je takticki dobro igrao.

Djokovic je najbolje pokazao kako se protiv Rafe moze dobiti, nakon cega su Wawrinka, Fognini, Federer primenili uspesno istu taktiku

(PS - Dimitrov je prosle godine na AO bio blizu pobede, sa istom taktikom).

Iako je Rafa znacajno poboljsao BH, ipak je FH njegovo najjace oruzje i to FH sa dosta spina (te stoga veoma siguran, ali cesto i relativno spor - osim povremeno kad opali ravni FH na FH protivnika, bilo insaide out, bilo longline). Ranije je mogao da igra FH prakticno na celom terenu, medjutim sada je nesto sporiji.

 

To znaci, ako ga se, sa dovoljnom dubinom udarca, na pravo mesto (1/4 polja na BH), "prikuje" za njegov BH, onda igra ili za njega nepovoljnu dijagonalu (ako trazi veci ugao, ostaje mu FH otvoren), ili ako igra po sredini, ili na BH protivnika, onda sledi duboki udarac na njegov FH, koji sada redje stize nego ranije (ako je isti dovoljno dubok i precizan). Ako te lopte pokusa da igra FH, posebno ako igra kratko na BH, ili po sredini terena, onda je "rupa" na njegovom FH jos veca.

 

Da bi se ova taktika mogla sprovesti potrebni su duboki udarci, snazan i precizan FH (na Nadalov BH, ili u FH ugao) + solidan BH, koji moze da "ukroti" Nadalov spin. Dvorucni BH je povoljniji za to [i to je glavni uzrok zasto je Federer cesto gubio na tu foru, igrajuci BH slajs (koji je davao Rafi dovoljno vremena da se namesti) i tek sada kada forsira BH topspin moze da ga dobija].

Hi everyone. Unfortunately, the injury I suffered in Acapulco before starting the tournament is in the same area as the one suffered in Melbourne. I won’t be able to play in Miami or Indian Wells as I need to recover. It was very painful to retire from Acapulco and it’s very hard as well to not play in the USA. I will miss you and I will do everything that’s possible to be back there in 2019. Thank you
