Sherlock Holmes receives science award
The respected Royal Society of Chemistry has bestowed an Extraordinary Honorary Fellowship medal on Sherlock Holmes for being the first detective to exploit chemical science as a means of solving crime.
The medal was placed on a statue of the sleuth in a ceremony at Baker Street in central London, the home address of the character created by the writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930).

Romani su A Study in Scarlet (prevedeno kao "Grizmina studija", ujedno i prvo pojavljivanje Šerloka Holmsa), The Sign of Four (Znak četvorice), The Valley of Fear (Dolina straha) i The Hound of Baskervilles (Baskervilski pas).
Zbirke su "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (Avanture Šerloka Homsa), "Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" (ne sećam se da li je prevedena kao "Sećanja ŠH" ili "Memoari ŠH" ), "The Return of Sherlock Holmes" (Povratak šerloka Holmsa) i "His Last Bow" (mislim da nikada nije objavljen kod nas, ali ne bih se mogla zakleti)

Malo Sherlock-a:
When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
One the contrary, Watson, you can see everything. You fail, however, to reason from what you see. You are too timid in drawing your inferences.
There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.
I never guess. It is a shocking habit -- destructive to the logical faculty.
What object is served by this circle of misery and violence and fear? It must tend to some end, or else our universe is ruled by chance, which is unthinkable. But what end? There is the great standing perennial problem to which human reason is as far from an answer as ever.
When one tries to rise above Nature one is liable to fall below it. The highest type of man may revert to the animal if he leaves the straight road of destiny.
Work is the best antidote to sorrow.
But there are always some lunatics about. It would be a dull world without them.
I cannot live without brainwork. What else is there to live for?
