"Always-on dial-up
If broadband or cable internet connection is not possible where you live, the an 'always-on' dial-up service is the one to go for. Your phone calls for the internet are included in your monthly charge and you can be online as much as you want. However, there is usually a cut-off after two hours to stop people running servers from it but you can log on again immediately afterwards for another two hours.
A good deal for always-on use of the Internet is from V21.co.uk
For J7.99 per month the service includes:-

0808 Dial Up Access (UK FREEphone number)
Choice of up to 56k Modem, 64k ISDN
Unlimited PoP3 Email (you@v21mail.co.uk)
10Mb Web Space
Unlimited Web Mail
3 Hour Cut off Times
No Line Restrictions
No Fixed Contracts or Commitments
Easy Monthly Payment
PoP3 Mail with a rubbish filter
Smtp Mail
News Server Access
7 Days a Week Telephone Support."
