Velika Nagrada Velike Britanije ugostiće desetu rundu 2017. šampionata i označava polovinu sezone. Silverston je upupno imao 50 trka Svetskog Šampionata i upravo na ovoj pisti je održana inauguralna trka Formule 1, prva ikad VN se vozila 1948. Na toj inauguralnoj trci Alfa Romeo je osvojio sva tri mesta na podijumu a pobedu, pol i nabrži krug upisao je Đuzepe Farina.
 
Pored Silverstona VN Britanije smo videli pet puta u Aintriju (najviše pobeda zabeležio je Stirling Mos-2) i dvanaest u Brens Heču (najjuspešniji je Niki Lauda s tri pobede).
 
Na Silverstonu najuspešniji je Alen Prost s pet pobeda

Šta se desilo na prošlom izdanju

 

Promenljivi uslovi su pratili celokupan trkački vikend što je uzrokovalo mnogo uzbudljivih momenata kao na primer Eriksonov udes u kojem mu je ostao volan u ruci dok se vrteo nakon udarca u gumenu ogradu do farse na startu pod SC. Pre trke desio se prolom oblaka no nedugo pre samog starta trke padavine su se smanjivale ali Čarli je odlučio da će trka startati pod SC što su mnogi jako dugo osuđivali jer nakon odlaska SC mnogo vozača je išlo menjati gume u intermedije.

 

 

Prva krivina je bila poprište mnogo izletanja zbog male elevacije ali kako se staza sušila izletanja su se proređivala. Fantastični Ferštapen je zaobilazio koga je stigao što ga je dovelo do treće pozicije, Rozberg je imao nekakvih problema s menjačem i tražio je od tima instrukcije za opravku istog. Pošto je to zabranjeno kažnjen je i to je Ferštapena promovisalo na drugo mesto. Pobedu je odneo Luis Hamilton koji je i startao s pol pozicije.

Force India to bring biggest update of season to Silverstone

Force India will bring its biggest Formula 1 update of the season to this weekend's British Grand Prix, according to the team's technical director Andrew Green.

The outfit made an impressive start to the season, scoring points with both Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon in each of the opening four races.

Force India then introduced its first major update package at Barcelona and subsequently achieved its best result with fourth and fifth at Catalunya.

On Sunday, the team strengthened its grip on fourth in the constructors' standings with its seventh double points finish of the year. Perez and Ocon were seventh and eight respectively in Austria to move 49 points clear of Williams in fifth.

For its home race at Silverstone, where team principal Vijay Mallya will make his first appearance at a race in 2017, Force India is planning significant improvements for the VJM10.

"We've got a suite of things coming for Silverstone, including a new front wing," said Green. "There are other bits as well, mainly the front end.

"It's one of our biggest if not the biggest we have done so far this season."

When asked if it was bigger than the Spain upgrade, Green said: "Yes. It'll be incremental from there and then there will be another big update around Singapore time.

"That is just coming through the wind tunnel now, it's going into full-size now."

Green said the team is finding chunks of performance on the new generation of F1 cars "every week" but admitted Force India will soon have to start thinking about allocating development resources to 2018 machine.

"It's going to start to become a challenge when we have to allocate resource to next year's car," he said. "The two cars, this year's and next, are aligned. From a concept perspective, everything we learn on this car transfers straight to next year's car.

"In that respect, we'll keep on bringing parts to the track. They will become less frequent and less complex parts but we will be bringing parts.

"A lot will be looking over our shoulder and seeing how far away fifth place is and whether we can focus more on next year."

Ahead of the British Grand Prix, a number of minor changes to the track have been confirmed.
The depth of tyre and TecPro barriers has been increased in places around the outside of Turns 1 (Abbey), 2 (Farm), 6 (Brooklands), 9 (Copse), 15 (Stowe) and 16 (Club).
While new double kerbs have been installed on the exit of Turns 9 (Copse) and 18 (Club), a new debris fence has been installed on the left between Turns 14 (Chapel) and 15 (Stowe).
Once again there are two DRS zones, the detection point of the first is 25m before Turn 3 (Village), with the activation point 30m after Turn 5 (Aintree).
The second detection point is at Turn 10 (Maggotts) with the activation point 55m after Turn 14 (Chapel).

Lewis Hamilton will head into his home race at Silverstone amid a cloud of local booing.

At F1's London demonstration event on Wednesday, the Mercedes driver's countrymen booed at the mention of his name.

That was because Hamilton was the only active F1 driver missing at the event.

"We invited teams and drivers to join us and had a fantastic response from all the teams and 19 drivers," the sport's clearly disgruntled owner Liberty Media declared.

Earlier, Hamilton had said he would miss the event in favour of a holiday.

"As Lewis posted on social media, he is on a short break until Silverstone," a Mercedes spokesperson said.

Hamilton's title rival Sebastian Vettel said in London: "I don't know why he's not here."

F1 correspondent for the Daily Mail, Jonathan McEvoy, said: "Why Hamilton would stay away is almost beyond understanding."

Hamilton's boss Toto Wolff said in London: "Lewis feels he is in such a tough championship fight that he needed the days off after Austria."

Alonso reverts to Spec 3 engine but will get penalties

Fernando Alonso will run Honda's more powerful 'Spec 3' engine at this weekend's British Grand Prix, but will take a Formula 1 grid penalty because of an engine component change.

Honda discovered a problem with Alonso's MGU-H in Austria and so reverted to a complete old-spec power unit for the remainder of the weekend in the interest of saving time with the change.

For Silverstone, he will go back to the Spec 3 engine that was used on the Friday in Austria, but with the old MGU-H that he ran from final practice at the Red Bull Ring.

A new energy store will also be fitted. As that will be his fifth of the season, he will incur a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's grand prix.

Honda will then take a view as to whether to make further changes after FP2, but the Japanese manufacturer anticipates further changes that will incur more penalties.

Given McLaren-Honda is expected to struggle on Silverstone's high-speed layout, it could tactically take further penalties this weekend rather than at the next race in Hungary, which offers a stronger chance of a good result.

The MGU-H that failed in Austria was a countermeasure part that was drafted in following a string of failures earlier in the season.

Honda sent the part back to its base in Japan and has been working on finding a fix, but with Austria being back-to-back with Silverstone it has been unable to get one ready in time for this weekend.
