1965-start-silv-hond.jpg

Duzina kruga: 5891 m

Duzina trke: 52 kruga (306,198 km)

Broj krivina: 18

Rekord staze: 1:33.401, Mark Veber, RBR, 2013

silverstone.jpg

Vreme:

Britain saw record-breaking temperatures for July in some parts of the country yesterday, and at Silverstone temperatures exceeded 32C.

This is far hotter than we’ve seen at most recent British Grands Prix, and although the coming days are expected to be cooler it should still be a very pleasant weekend for the spectators – a far cry from the persistent rain of 2012.

Cooler air from the west has brought temperatures down on Thursday, but by Friday they will be rising again. A sunny start to practice should see temperatures reaching the 25C mark. There is a good chance of overnight rain on Friday, after which Saturday will bring similar conditions.

At this stage race day looks like being a shade cooler and possibly cloudy. There is also a slight risk of a light rain shower on Sunday, but the likelihood of that happening will depend on how the weather systems shift over the next 72 hours.

The stewards are investigating whether Mercedes broke the rules by covering Nico Rosberg’s car when it was brought back to the pits during first practice.

Rosberg came to a stop with a hydraulic fault during the first half hour of the session. Afterwards the stewards noted the team “covered the underside, rear diffuser area and the front wing” while bringing it back.

Formula One technical delegate Jo Bauer directed the stewards’ attention to this he considers it a breach of the Sporting Regulations.

Article 27.4 states: “During the entire event, no screen, cover or other obstruction which in any way obscures any part of a car will be allowed at any time in the paddock, garages, pit lane or grid, unless it is clear any such covers are needed solely for mechanical reasons, which could, for example, include protecting against fire.”

While the article does note that covers are allowed to be “placed over damaged cars or components”, according to Bauer “the car hadn’t suffered any kind of accident damage” and therefore “this in my opinion is a breach of article 27.4″.

Lewis Hamilton says he is pleased to have switched back to an earlier version of Mercedes’ clutch having blamed a newer one for poor starts in recent races.

Hamilton started from pole position at the last race in Austria but was immediately passed by team mate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton said he had been unable to make good starts with the new clutch, and has reverted to the old one this weekend.

“I’ve gone back on clutch set-up which feels really good so far,” said Hamilton, “just like it did in the first few races.”

Hamilton said his first day of practice was “not perfect” after ending second practice almost half a second off his team mate. “We’ve got some work to do overnight but the pace is decent,” he said.

“I didn’t have the ideal balance on the long runs and I’ve got a bit of work to do on set-up. But otherwise it’s all been good.

“The tyres feel strong – it doesn’t take too long to warm them up which is a positive.”

“Saying that, Ferrari look strong again here and they were right there with us today,” he added, “so it should be a good battle.”

“Hopefully we’ll find a bit more tomorrow otherwise we could find ourselves in trouble.”
