Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says the latest news about the health of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher "is not good".

It is more than two years since Schumacher sustained severe brain injuries following a skiing accident in the French Alps.

"I have news and unfortunately it is not good," Montezemolo told reporters, but did not elaborate. "Life is strange. He was a fantastic driver and only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999."

Last October, FIA president and close family friend Jean Todt said Schumacher "is still fighting".

The German spent a number of months in intensive care in Grenoble hospital before regaining consciousness. He was then moved to a hospital closer to home in Lausanne before returning home in early September 2014. Since then, there has been little information revealed about the 46-year-old and his recovery.

The last official statement from Schumacher's management came in September 2014 and said the German faces a "long and difficult road ahead".

Willi Weber gave an interview with an German tabloid where he complained once again that Schumacher's wife would forbid him to see Schumacher: "Dont understand me wrong. Corinna has every right to do so and I can fully understand her situation. But I'm suffering like a dog in this situation. Because I think it is not honest. Dont they trust me? We also have a business relationship, where we need to discuss some things, but even that is not possible anymore."

Michael Schumacher's manager on Monday paid tribute to the absent F1 legend, as his entire family gathered for a rare public appearance.

In Marburg, Germany, Schumacher's wife Corinna, father Rolf, children Gina-Maria and Mick and friends Norbert Haug and Stefano Domenicali all gathered.

Attended by 200 others, it was the opening of an exhibition celebrating Schumacher's career, hosted by long-time sponsor DVAG and taking place on the 20th anniversary of the great German's first test at the wheel of a Ferrari.

The notable absentee, however, was the 47-year-old seven time world champion himself, as he was apparently still being tended to by full-time rehabilitation staff at his palatial home on the shores of Lake Geneva.

"He is the most successful driver in history," manager Kehm said, "and sometimes, on days like this, it is good to be reminded of it.

"Of course, Michael is not here and of course we miss him. We know what has happened and cannot change it. We must accept it and hope with everything we have that with continued support and patience he will one day be back with us.

"Racing was his life and no one would have liked to have been here more than him," Kehm added.

F1: Schumacher family sues photographer over hospital images
Monday, 19 December 2016

Sabine Kehm, managing director of The MS Office that runs the business affairs of Michael Schumacher, has revealed that charges have been filed in Germany against an unnamed photographer who allegedly attempted to market photos of the seven-time world champion in a hospital bed.

Kehm told Motorsport-Magazin that the photos taken of Schumacher (pictured above during his final F1 season in 2012) following his traumatic brain injuries suffered in a December 2013 skiing accident, were offered to several publications for $1.04 million.

This is not the first time the Schumacher family has initiated legal action against alleged invasions of privacy involving both photographers as well as published reports making claims about the state of the German legend's health, which have occurred despite regular pleas from the family to respect its wishes for privacy.

Over the weekend, The MS Office announced it was organizing a "Keep Fighting Initiative" to "channel the positive energy received by Michael Schumacher and the Schumacher family as a force for good in the world." It emphasized, however, that Schumacher's health remains a private matter and urged the media and public to respect its decision not to make public updates on the subject.

Michael Schumacher's family seeks new hope in America

Michael-Schumacher-1-725x500.jpg

Michael Schumacher could be moved to America where a brain injury specialist could instill new hope for the F1 legend.

Schumacher has been confined to his home in Switzerland following a ski accident in 2013 which inflicted severe brain damage on the seven-time world champion.

Not much is known of the 48-year-old's medical condition with the family imposing a strict black-out on all information relating to his health.

But German magazine Bravo reports that with Schumacher's condition still "weak", his wife Corina has reached out for help from the US.

The report said Schumacher could be transferred to Dallas, Texas, where the family owns a cattle farm.

There, a brain injury specialist called Mark Weeks has a clinic that could be a "new hope" for the Schumacher family, Bravo claims.

"We have extensive experience with trauma patients," Meeks is quoted as saying.

"There is probably no clinic in Europe that handles as many cases as we do."

If the report is true, it likely means that Michael Schumacher's condition is not improving unfortunately, but perhaps it also signifies that hope remains.

The only member of the Formula 1 community which has had the opportunity to visit Michael Schumacher is FIA president Jean Todt.

But the Frenchman has never offered any insight into the great driver's condition. An alarming report surfaced last year, based on comments from former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, but was quickly scrapped by the family's spokesperson Sabine Kehm.

Schumacher's son Mick, who has embarked on a career of his own in motorsport, has never publicly spoken about his father's condition.

Ipak, totalno uopsteno, moze reci sledece:

Michael Schumacher's former manager thinks the family of the F1 legend should come clean with his millions of fans.

Almost four years after the seven time world champion's skiing crash, almost nothing is known about the extent of the now 48-year-old's brain injuries.

Concurrently, there are unconfirmed rumours Schumacher will be moved from Switzerland to the US, that his health condition is improving, and that he has relapsed into coma.

Willi Weber, who was Schumacher's long-term manager, blames the confusion on the great German's family and current management.

"I find it very unfortunate that Michael's fans do not know about his health. Why are they not being told the truth?" he asked.

Weber was speaking to the Munich-based newspaper TZ, shortly after an operation on his back.

"Formula one is just like my back now -- painful," he said.

"It is now a Mickey Mouse show and nothing else. The sport has gone into the background," said Weber.
