Grosjean stays fastest in Dubai

Romain Grosjean has topped today's afternoon session in Dubai. Filippi set the fastest lap of the day in the morning session.

After a fruitful morning session, the 26 drivers of the GP2 Asia Series got back on the Dubai Autodrome circuit this afternoon for another three-hour free practice. ART Grand Prix driver, Romain Grosjean, was once again the quickest on track in a 1:21.820, closely followed by the FMS Spaniard Adrian Valles in a 1:22.015.

Bruno Senna completes the Top 3 while his team-mate, Chandhok, finishes 5th. Setting the 4th quickest time, Kamui Kobayashi put in a great afternoon at the wheel of his Dams. If Luca Filippi sets the 7th time this afternoon, the Italian set the fastest lap of the day in the morning session in a 1:21.562.

Tomorrow will be a day off during which the teams might enjoy one of the most scenic spots in the Middle East. Everyone will get back to business next Tuesday and Wednesday for another two-day test.

20/01/2008 - The first two testing days ever in the history of GP2 Asia Series finished not long ago at Dubai. The work done by BCN Competicion Team involved the technical verification of the single seaters, completely serviced before this appointment, as well as an early setup analysis on the basis of the data provided by drivers and by the telemetry.

The heavy rains that strangely fell over the circuit in the last few days did not allow the access to boxes before Thursday and this forced the Team to a restless work to complete the cars´assembly on time for the tests.

Lap times, though not very meaningful due to the type of work done by the Team, showed anyway both drivers improving lap after lap.

Two more testing days are scheduled on this track on the 22nd and 23rd of January which will take all teams straight to the first race of the season in program next weekend.
