American tennis player Tennys Sandgren, Pizzagate truther and guy who said America can’t be racist because it elected a black president, thinks the alt-right has some “interesting” ideas. This came to light at the Australian Open during today’s post-match presser when a reporter asked Sandgren about his social media activity, in which he has argued about Pizzagate, agreed with Mike Cernovich about “fake news,” and wondered why mainstream media wasn’t covering “spirit cooking,” an alleged satanic ritual that Hillary Clinton supposedly took part in.

Recently, Sandgren’s Twitter activity included retweeting Nicholas Fuentes, a toady teen white nationalist who last year went to the Charlottesville rally to march alongside Nazis and Klansmen.

Mystery solved: the big pending penalty was for Mischa Zverev, fined a massive US $45,000 (FORTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!) for a poor “first round performance.” That’s almost all of his prize money, which was around US $47,000 (60,000 AUD).

Tennys Sandgren was mentioned THREE different times on the @TennisChannel pre-match show tonight but NOT ONCE did Martina, Jon, Jim or Brett mention anything about the firestorm going on today. I didn't expect them to give their opinions, but I expected it to be covered. Smdh.

It would definitely be difficult to avoid then. It's just frustrating to see two or three folks on that panel bite their tongues after being very vocal about Margaret Court and other related topics.

Correction from Tennis Australia: Zverev's fine was erroneously published in USD (the standard currency for fines in tennis) by referee's office. It was 45,000 *Australian* dollars, or 75% of his first round prize money. About US $36,000. Still staggering, but not as total.
